Airbus Tianjin plant to assemble three A320 aircraft monthly in 2012

The joint venture of Airbus in China's northern Tianjin municipality can now assemble three A320 aircraft each month, said a senior official with Airbus China on Tuesday.

By the end of 2012, the total number of A320 planes assembled in Airbus A320 Family Final Assembly Line in China (FALC) in its Tianjin plant is expected to reach over 100, said Laurence Barron, president of Airbus China Co. Ltd.

The Tianjin plant has already delivered its first A320 aircraft assembled in 2012 to Juneyao Airlines, a privately-owned Chinese airline based in Shanghai, he said.

The Airbus Tianjin assembly plant is a tripartite joint venture set up by Airbus, the Tianjin Tariff-free Zone and Aviation Industry Corporation of China.

The first Airbus A320 plane assembled in the plant was delivered to Sichuan Airlines based in the country's southwest in June 2009.

Airbus A320 series aircraft are composed of four types, the A318, A319 A320 and A321. Currently, Airbus Tianjin assembles the A319 and A320 models.
